The Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkand is a love letter to Goonies, the 80s cartoon Dungeons & Dragons and my all-time favorite game series Final Fantasy!
When a group of five teenagers is mysteriously transported to a world filled with magic and airships their only clue to return home is to find a mythical lost city - the city of Samarkand.

WHAT A ROLLER-COASTER! WHAT A RIDE!!
Thank you all so much for your incredible show of support for The Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkand! I've been using this expression a lot lately but we are in the endgame now (pun intended again!) and everyone is performing beautifully \o/
I really believe we can unlock the Commemorative Princess Evelet Coin. These past 36hrs have been surprisingly strong and if we keep this pace up we will finish just a little over $40K thus unlocking what I believe will be the coolest Lost Kids collectible.
I will be working on the Kickstarter all day and if anybody has any questions or critiques don't be shy about it, leave a comment, send an inbox Message, I'll be available all the way through the end tonight at 11:59pm EST.

NEW COVER ARTWORK FOR REGULAR SOFTCOVER EDITION UNLOCKED!

I've worked with Gustavo Borges a few times already and our biggest collaboration was the graphic novel Choices: A Hero's Tale released exclusively in Brazil (I hope to release this in English next year) and I've been dying to have him do anything Lost Kids related for a while now.
So it's with great pleasure that I announce Gustavo will be doing a brand new cover for the Regular softcover edition of Volume 2 =)
He's got a very unique style that I believe will fit beautifully with the Lost Kids.
A number of fellow creators shared The Lost Kids with their backers in project updates and I'd love to return the favor. These collaborations really shine a light at the community spirit Kickstarter is all about so here are a couple of projects you might want to check it out.
James Emmet is not only a great editor he's also a terrific creator and a genuine awesome human being. We've been talking every now and then since he fell in love with The Few and Cursed a while back and it's really exciting to see him collaborating on I Am Hexed as it kickstarts issue #2 after a very successful campaign for the debut book.
From their own page: "I Am Hexed is a supernatural political thriller. There’s magic, mystery, personal drama and an accidentally carnivorous plant.
Witches have been a part of the political fabric of Washington D.C. since it was founded. It’s only since the 1960s that witches stood together and fought to take back the word “Hexed”. A movement was ignited when witches came out of the shadows and proudly showed off their broomsticks. Now with the struggle for equality ongoing, Charlotte "Charlie" Helm, a junior staff member for Senator Royce, has been thrust into the murky and dangerous waters of political games between witches and their adversaries."
Another beautiful and interesting project is Warrick's Princess Nyissa. It's Warrick's first Kickstarter and he's already fully funded and unlocking Stretch Goals - not too shabby! Plus the artwork is really gorgeous.
From their own creator: "Princess Nyissa: The Legend of the Lost Light is a picture book dedicated to Warrick’s daughter. It is a fantasy story to inspire courage and self belief and to always strive to be your best.
Princess Nyissa is set in the fantasy world of Soulieria where the Celestial Twelve must protect their lands from the Shadow Realm. However with the birth of The Red Night, Soulieria is plunged into chaos and darkness. It is up to a lost princess, Princess Nyissa and her guardian to save and restore order back to Soulieria.
The project is already funded and is on the verge of unlocking the first stretch goal!"

Hello everyone!
Exciting news as we have unlocked yet one more Stretch Goal! And that's actually quite special because we've matched the number of SGs we unlocked with The Lost Kids Vol. 1 Kickstarter and yet we have plenty of time to go a lot further.
Pretty cool, right?
It's with an immense sense of gratitude that I write to all of you. Thank you so much for believing in this IP and taking this journey with The Lost Kids =)

The next three Stretch Goals are actually pretty exciting as we will be improving both editions of the book and unlocking a collectible item I wanted to manufacture since last year:
THE COLLECTIBLE PRINCESS EVELET METAL COIN
It is an actual metal minted coin. Not a replica. Not a 3D print. An actual coin. I did it for The Few and Cursed and it turned out fantastic, I really want to be able to do this for The Lost Kids too.

Ben Slabak reached out to cross-promote each other project and I really enjoyed the art on his book and the premise. It looks like a really well-done professional project.

The Kickstarter Special HARDCOVER Edition will now get an exclusive upgrade. The book will be printed in a matte finish with gold foil and UV finish on the characters which will look unbelievably gorgeous!

For backers that are getting the regular softcover edition now might be the perfect time to move up a tier and go for the Kickstarter Exclusive hardcover. Perhaps you are one of our Digital Backers only, why not get the books (plus all the promo items we've unlocked) in the mail?

I've also started working on the unlocked Stretch Goals items already and things are really good. These are the proposed layouts by Gilberto Martiamo Jr. for his collectible card featuring Lost Kid SARAH BECKIN:

Gilberto is a phenomenal artist that has done a lot of work for Marvel and Upper Deck. I really cannot be more excited to see this finished!
As soon as I have more previews you'll be among the first to see them. Let's keep spreading the word about the Lost Kids and working towards that ULTIMATE STRETCH GOAL at $40K!
As I've mentioned in previous updates, I'm a true believer of the community spirit here on Kickstarter and that includes creators helping each other out. Jon's project has just a few hours left on the clock but it already raised twice as the original goal and is now hitting Stretch Goals.
From their own page: "As Meta-Girl considers calling it quits as a superhero, she answers the call to fight an escalating mob war. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Johnny Benvinuiti, is caught right in the center of the war as he's tapped to become a new crime boss.
Epic battles and intense character drama fire on all cylinders in volume 2 of the Flying Sparks story. More strange powered beings appear, focused on getting revenge on Buxton Technologies. Both Meta-Girl and Johnny find their friends getting far too close to their secret lives as heroes and villains. Is their relationship worth holding onto? Will they come head to head in battle with one another?"
This is a project that has a lot in common with the Lost Kids and definitely has a lot of audience cross-over power. They have about the same amount of time left, we're ending both our Kickstarters a day apart from each other, and they are also fully funded already and looking to unlock Stretch Goals.
From their own pages: "Unikorn is a 120+ page graphic novel that sends the message that with a little love, faith and hope, we never have to let go of the ones we've lost. They are always with us in spirit. And, that it's okay to keep believing in 'magic', no matter how old you get.
Maeve “Mae” Everhart inherits Percy, an old horse with a strange nub on his forehead. When the horse performs a ‘healing miracle’ and is declared a unicorn, crowds descend on her family farm, making Mae realize the world might not be ready for a magic horse just yet.
Her heartbreaking and hopeful journey with this special animal becomes a story of family healing, community and discovery of the real magic inside us all."

Please excuse me as I jump the gun on this but it's for a good reason which you'll understand if you scroll down past our big news of the day =)
ANOTHER STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED!!

We are reaaaaaaally close to unlocking DUST-JACKETS for all the books - regular and special Kickstarter edition alike - so I thought I'd already publish an update about it and in the process help some really nice folks with their Kickstarters.
My plan is to use some of the concept art by Tony Holmsten for the new dust-jacket but if we go well past the Stretch Goals above I will look into commissioning exclusive brand new art for it.

Please continue spreading the word about the Lost Kids: Seeking Samarkand books, let's keep this fantastic momentum going and unlock as many Stretch Goals as possible.

Now here's the reason I decided to announce this ahead of time...
I'm a firm believer of the community spirit that Kickstarter promotes. Not only we should back other creators and other projects as well why not help spread the word about their stuff too, right?
It's common practice and something that really works well so here I am with the very first Project Spotlight for you all.
Skies of Fire is the gold-standard of indie comics. I love this series, I've backed it multiple times and I've read all their books so far. I really cannot recommend this one enough - it's got fantastic artwork, great writing and an in-depth world-building that can rival most entertainment products out there.
From their own page: "Skies of Fire takes place in the Aquilan Empire, a kingdom where airship travel has become the dominant means of transportation, commerce, and war. In the center of the Empire lies a monstrous, never-ending storm called The Expanse. In Issue One, the raider Delmonte orchestrates a surprise attack on the key trade outpost, Port Prince. His actions prompt Royal Guard Captain Helen Pierce to volunteer for an expedition to bring him to justice. "
This Kickstarter ends in the next 23 hours so airships, grand adventure and epic storyline is your thing be sure to pay them a visit =D

SNES GAME BOX #2 UNLOCKED!
This should go nicely with the SNES game box #1 unlocked during the first Lost Kids Kickstarter which you can check it out below. For those new backers (welcome!) here's a little context:
One of the coolest promo items we unlocked on the first Lost Kids Kickstarter was a fold-it-yourself cardboard replica of a SNES game box as if the LK had been released as a RPG game back in the 90s. It looked something like this:

We're doing another one now that we have unlocked the $23K Stretch Goal!
Artist Danusko Campos is back on the cover art as is Derek Souza doing three more Pixel Art screenshots simulating the game. The first time around we paid homage to classic RPG Chrono Trigger.
What classic game should we pay homage to this time around?
